In memory-GAYA. (Poetry)

I search you in your
Faded bricks,in your
Colours incomprehensible,
Your barren mornings,in
Those sly nights.

Your pretentious laugh
Talks of that past
Flickering in your corners,
But those eyelids hide the
Present;shattered behind
The dusty mist.

( Gaya is a town in Bihar, India. Very rich in heritage. This is the place where we have the famous ‘Bodhgaya’, where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. These lines are a lament of its present political and social state. The picture was clicked at ‘Mangla Gauri’, a temple of high religious importance to the Hindus.
Someday,I’ll give you a Longer poem and more pictures of this place which happens to be very close to me).

  1. Beautifully written. I like the personification of Gaya when you evoke the past of this town with words like “Your pretentious laugh” and the “eyelids”. BTW, thank you for the follow.
